A multi-point automatic lubrication pump system consists of four main parts: the lubrication pump, lubrication distributor, piping components, and control system. Its function is to supply lubricants to the friction points of machines or units. Compared with traditional lubrication methods, multi-point automatic lubrication systems can improve efficiency by nearly five times, save up to two-thirds of lubricating oil, reduce maintenance costs by about three times, and extend the service life of pump jack bearings. Additionally, the system is simple, easy to install, easy to operate, safe, clean, and does not require special lubricants. Its application provides an effective approach for daily lubrication maintenance of oil field pump jacks.

1. Composition and Working Principle of Automatic Lubrication Pump Systems

A multi-point automatic lubrication system is composed of four parts: the lubrication pump, distributor, piping components, and control system. Its purpose is to supply lubricants to the friction points of machines or units.

  1. Lubrication Pump:
Provides the power and the required lubricants, including components such as an electric motor, oil reservoir, and controller.
  2. Distributor:
Distributes the lubricant in the required quantity. It comes in two types: progressive and non-progressive structures.
  3. Piping Components:
Connect the lubrication pump and distribution elements within the system and deliver lubricants to each lubrication point. The piping assembly consists of pipe joints, flexible hoses (or rigid pipes), and other components.
  4. Control System:
The control system is composed of an electronic programmer, pressure switches, liquid level switches, and other control elements. It controls the lubrication pump to operate cyclically according to preset requirements, manages the pump and system startup and shutdown times, monitors system pressure and oil reservoir levels, triggers alarms, and displays the system’s operating status.

Progressive Lubrication System

The progressive lubrication system consists of a lubrication pump, progressive distributor, piping components, and control devices. In a progressive system, the distributor delivers a precise quantity of lubricant to each lubrication point in a sequential manner, forming a fully enclosed lubrication system.

Working Principle of Multi-Point Automatic Lubrication Systems:
High-pressure semi-fluid grease enters the main pipeline through the grease injection port and reaches the distribution valve. The valve then delivers a measured amount of grease through high-pressure hoses to each lubrication point, ensuring effective lubrication under different operating conditions.

Since the distribution valve and lubrication points are connected via high-pressure distribution pipes, the system forms a sealed lubrication delivery system that adapts to the working conditions of pump jacks. The precise amount of oil supplied depends on the diameter and stroke of the internal plunger within the distributor.
